Cash Rewards Credit Cards

There are many cash rewards credit cards out there. They all promise you this or that trying to get your attention, trying to be the one that you will want to pick. There are pros, cons, and qualifications for each of these cards.

As for qualifications… You can not have just “good” credit, and especially not by your definition alone. Almost every single cash rewards credit card requires you to have an “excellent” credit score. This differs from company to company, so it is always a good idea to check before applying. If your credit score is where the company wants it, they will also look at employment history to see how stable your income has been in the past couple of years. Been job hopping? Now might not be the greatest time to try to get one of those cash rewards credit cards.

One of the biggest companies out there, Discover, is one of the leading companies that offer cash back credit cards. They even have a biodegradable card for those of you who are trying to go green. Now with Discover, you can earn a five percent cash back on many things that include things like travel, home improvement stores, department stores, gas, restaurants, pet stores and more. There is a one percent cash bonus on all other purchases that do not qualify for the five percent. If you like shopping online, you can earn up to twenty percent cash back at their exclusive shopping website. There is also no annual fee charged to the cardholder. The downside to this card is that the introductory rate of zero percent is only for the first six months, and all transfers incur a fee.

Then there are the cash rebate credit cards from Chase. Their main cash back credit card is called the Chase Freedom Card. Now to understand the rebates for this card, it gets a little bit more complex. They offer fifty dollars cash back on your first purchase. Always and anywhere you will earn at least one full percent cash back on any purchase. If you choose to shop online through Chase, you will be able to earn between ten and twenty percent cash back through select retailers. There is no annual fee associated with this credit card. Another piece of good news if you decide to go with Chase is that the zero percent introductory rate continues on through the first twelve months of having the card. The Chase Freedom Card does charge a three percent transfer fee for each transfer transaction.

Now, the company that looks to be offering the best cash back credit cards is Captital One. Their offer of a cash reward program credit card is called the No Hassle Cash Rewards. You recieve two percent cash back on gasoline and purchases made at major grocery stores. For every other purchase, the reward is one percent. The zero percent introductory APR rate is conditional, meaning whatever their most current offer states. Which, right now, it is until May 2010. There is no annual fee and also no transfer fee per transaction. If you decide to transfer a previous balance onto the Capital One No Hassle Cash Rewards card, the APR defaults to the variable APR set to go into effect after the introductory period.

Get a Credit Card With No Credit Check

Most of us get them in the mail frequently – “credit card – guaranteed approval!!!!” it says on the envelope.

Some of these really are guaranteed approval, but mostly there’s a catch – the company has a range of cards and you may end up approved for the lowest level one which requires a security deposit, for example! True guaranteed pre-approval usually only comes to those who already have high incomes and excellent credit ratings.

A credit card with no credit check is easiest to get from a place where you already have a good banking or credit record.  These sometimes have instant approval credit cards, or you could try some of the many cards with online applications.

Find The Lowest Credit Card Rates

These days, everyone’s trying to find as many ways as they can to save money, and having the lowest credit card rates possible is more important than ever.  But it’s also become more difficult than ever to find these low rates.  However, if you spend the time and effort, you can find the lowest credit card rates on the internet, and save yourself plenty of money for your effort.

As with most things nowadays, it’s possible to find a great, low rate credit card by looking online.  You’ll find that there are several websites where you can compare rates and rewards offered by different credit card companies, in much the same way that it’s possible to compare car insurance rates.  These websites will offer basic information about these cards, including the rates that you can expect, information on balance transfers, and any rewards that are available – and also allow you to compare all of this information side by side.

Some websites will also provide you with a basic idea of the level of credit you’ll need to be approved: good credit, no history, etc.  Naturally, the better credit score you have, the lower rates you’ll be able to get, but don’t let bad credit stop you from trying!  Although you almost certainly won’t be able to get 780 rates with only a credit score of 620, you can still find low interest rate credit cards in the range of your credit score, so take a look!

After working so hard to get the lowest credit card rates, you’ll want to keep those rates low.  The easiest ways to keep a low rate on a credit card are the same ways that you’d improve your credit score over time.  Be sure to pay on time, every time.  Think like a credit card company: if you lend someone money, you want them to pay you back regularly, and on time.  If they don’t, you won’t want to lend them money anymore.  Credit card companies won’t immediately stop lending to you, but will instead express their displeasure at missing payments by raising your interest rates, which can cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars a year in extra charges.

In addition to paying regularly and on time, you should also try to pay off your balance each time you get your bill.  Not only will this help save you money by cementing your low credit card rates, it’ll also help keep your credit score high and will save you money on the interest that you would be paying over time.  While you should avoid carrying a balance, remember to use your credit card regularly; don’t let it sit in your wallet and gather dust.  Don’t feel that you should be buying things on your card that you won’t be able to pay for – this is a recipe for disaster.  Instead, choose to use your credit card from time to time to buy things that you know you can afford, rather than using your debit card or cash.  This will keep your card active, and keep the interest rate low.

Drawbacks of the Lowest Rate Credit Cards

If you carry a balance on your credit card instead of paying it off every month, a low interest rate is very important to keep your costs down. However, credit cards with low rates often have an annual fee to get the lower rate and, again, you need to run the numbers to see if the card is a good deal for you. Does the difference in interest paid cover the fee, plus some?

Find the Best Rewards Credit Cards

Every time you open your mailbox, you are probably bombarded with offers to sign up for a credit card with Capital One, Discover, or American Express.  Although you probably ignore most of these offers there are times that you want to sign up for a credit card.  However, you find it difficult to compare the rewards that are offered among different credit card offers.

Given that there are a multitude of credit card reward offers with different rewards available, you should first evaluate your credit card needs then determine what kind of rewards you want on your credit card.  For example, if you travel a lot, you may want one of the many airmiles credit cards available that will compensate you with one mile of airline travel for every dollar that you spend.  Another example is if you tend to carry balances on your credit card, you may want a low interest credit card instead.

As such, a few of the best rewards credit cards will be discussed to help you decide what credit card offers you should sign up for keeping in mind that each credit card offer will have different rewards available to it.  First of all, the Discover More Card is one of the best credit cards for low interest rates and low balance transfer fees.  Next, the Chase Freedom Credit Card is one of the best credit cash back credit cards available in the market.  If you travel frequently, the Capital One No Hassle Miles Ultra For Professionals credit cards is the best card available on the market for airline miles rewards.

The Discover More Card is one of the best rewards credit cards available in the market if you are pursuing a credit card with low interest rates and low balance transfer fees.  For the first six months you use this credit card, you will have an APR of 0.0%.  What does this meant to you?  It means that if you pay off the entire balance of your credit card before the first six months are up, you will not pay any interest on the amount that you spent on the credit card.  Thereafter, your interest rate will be as low as 11.99% depending on the rating of your credit.  This is an excellent interest rate as many other credit cards have minimum interest rates of 13% or 14%.  Additionally, the Discover More Card offers low balance transfer fees at a fee of 3% compared to 5% with other credit cards.

If you have a tendency to keep the balance your credit card current, then perhaps a cash back credit card is the right card for you.  A cash back credit card is a credit card that provides you with cash incentives or rebates on your credit card.  As such, when you use credit cards with cash back incentives; you will see the cash back in the form of a decrease to the balance in your monthly credit card statement.  As such, one of the best rewards credit cards available for cash back rewards is the Chase Freedom Credit Card.  This card offers a cash back reward of $50 on your first purchase, 1% cash back on all other purchases, 10% cash back if you shop online with Chase Bank affiliates, and 3% cash back for gas and grocery purchases.

Finally, if you travel frequently, then the Capital One No Hassle Miles Ultra For Professionals credit card is one of the best rewards credit cards available for airline miles.  Simply put, for every dollar that you purchase on this credit card, you earn two airline travel miles.  This can add up extremely quickly, especially if you use this credit card for all your purchases.  Additionally, the miles you earn do not expire, there are no blackout dates, and there are no seat restrictions.  This is a truly formidable rewards card if you are a frequent traveler.

Although these suggestions are the best credit cards available for their given rewards category, you may not want to sign up for these credit cards without looking at all the options available to you.  As such there are many website available for you to compare credit card rewards.

Opening your mailbox and seeing a new offer for a credit card should no longer be intimidating for you if you want to sign up for a new credit card.  As long as you know what rewards you want on your credit card, you will know which offers you may want to review and which offers can go straight to your shredder.
